Years ago, I met a woman in Japan who spoke of her daily commitment to investing. Curious, I asked what she invests in – equities, bonds, real estate, start-ups? Her answer was: “My skin, of course!” She then detailed a nine-step daily ritual which, after some quick mental math, proved to be a significant investment indeed!
Having entered the world of luxury skincare in my early twenties, managing high-end brands where a single serum retails for over £300, "investing in your skin" was a concept I became deeply familiar with. Curating a comprehensive, daily prestige ritual - complete with cleansers, toners, serums, day and night creams, eye treatments, and essential SPF - can easily amount to a fortune in itself. But in every instance, the women choosing these routines have assured me that the investment is entirely justified by the outcome.
So I thought I’d seen it all - the pinnacle of high-end skincare.
But in walked Dr. Inna, and of course, I realised that I was wrong!
My understanding of 'high-end' was only scratching the surface of a much more exclusive stratosphere of skincare.
Through Dr. Inna, I discovered the level above "skincare investment" – one which orbits the realm of a "Private Banker for your skin".
So, who is Dr. Inna?
Dr. Inna is the Founder of Libi & Daughters.
She is a Private Banker for skin who comes from a family of SIX GENERATIONS of ROYAL SKINCARE.
Just as one entrusts a fortune only to a Master of finance, her customers entrust their skincare exclusively to her.
Dr. Inna’s authority is not self-appointed. It is inherited.
I first met Dr. Inna over dinner at an upscale restaurant in the heart of Marylebone. From the moment I met her, she carried herself with the unmistakable aura of royalty. She was magnetic, but what I found most striking about her was her skin. It was porcelain — luminous, supple, impossibly youthful. It had the freshness of something newly born.
As the evening unfolded, my curiosity took over. I asked her everything under the sun — and with each answer, a remarkable history emerged.
Dr. Inna is the great great great great great great (I’m losing count now) granddaughter of Libi.
Libi was the original “Private Banker for skin” - for ancient Romanov Royalty.
In 1729, two remarkable women were born: the future Empress Catherine the Great and Leiba, affectionately known as Libi. As the daughter of an apothecary who served the royal family, Libi formed a deep childhood bond with the young Catherine. One that was so enduring, when Catherine journeyed to Russia to marry the future Tsar, she brought Libi with her as a trusted confidante.
Libi became Catherine’s "Personal Skin Doctor", handcrafting bespoke formulations for the Empress. Through marriage into the royal household, this knowledge passed from mother to daughter, generation after generation, surviving political upheaval, exile to Georgia in the early 1900s, and eventually evolving through formal medical training, it reached Dr Inna, who brought these centuries-old secrets to London.
